Maritime history walking tours are back by popular demand!

Begin your journey at our "It's the Water" exhibit, then explore Olympia's rich maritime history and working waterfront. Sites include the Canoe Journey Mural, Percival Landing, Oyster Shelters, the 4th Avenue Bridge, Harbor House, the Parthia tugboat, Olympia Cannon Company, Olympia Sand and Gravel, and the Port of Olympia. 

This tour date includes an extended Port of Olympia Marine Terminal experience. Following an abbreviated version of the above tour, you’ll enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour inside the Port of Olympia Marine Terminal. The guided tour will end at the Port and not return as a group to Oly AHA, so please plan accordingly. The location is ideal for continuing your Olympia exploration by visiting the Farmer's Market, enjoying lunch at a downtown restaurant, or visiting local shops.

You’ll learn about port history, imports and exports, the types of cargo we handle, and how our marine terminal connects to the larger multimodal transportation network that drives economic opportunity across our region.

Please note that this is an outdoor walking tour. Participants will walk from the Port Plaza Tower meeting place into the marine terminal, and then down to the dock, around the warehouse and back. Please wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. Tours are stroller and wheelchair accessible.

Photo ID Required for 17+: Due to federal regulations, government issued photo identification (i.e.; Driver’s License, Passport, etc.) is required for everyone over 17 years of age to access the secured Marine Terminal.

Tours are less than 1.5 hours and under two miles on flat terrain.

Tickets are $12 per person.
